Yugoslavian contract FN 1922 cal. 380 Pistol SOLD
Product Description
Very good overall condition. Original factory finish is at about 85% with moderate wear, some spotting and flacking. Tight action and very good bright bore with strong rifling. One of the grip panels had warped with time and one shows flat worn spot on the checkering. Pistol is all matching except for the magazine which is an original Yugoslavian contract magazine in 9mm Kurtz. No import markings.
In 1919 Austrian-Hungarian Empire was dissolved by The Treaty of Versailles and new independent state The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovens was formed. The need for the uniformity of the side arms for the Yugoslavian Army. Due to the financial reasons Yugoslavian Government had rejected some offers by FN to purchase guns which were available at that time. FN solved the problem very inexpensively by modifying Model 1910 pistol and model 1922 was born with the longer barrel and larger frame able to accept higher capacity magazine. During WWII many M1922 Yugoslavian pistols were captured by Germans and reissued to Bulgarian and Italian troops under designation P641(j) but large portion remained in Joseph Tito partisan Army.
